THE CSS COMMITTEE

Below are the executive and non-executive positions in the CSS committee. Please reach out to us via email or message us (on Facebook or Instagram) to express your interest in applying for a potential position.

PRESIDENT

Provides overall leadership and direction to the CSS. Establishes annual goals and objectives. Fosters strong and positive relationships with students, other societies, and organisations at La Trobe University. Maintains consistent correspondence with relevant staff and faculties. Organises and manages CSS meetings. Acts as a supportive and approachable leader for all other committee members.

VICE PRESIDENT

Assists the President in providing leadership and direction to the society. Ensures goals and plans are adhered to. Serves as a representative of the CSS in absence of the President. Assists President in fulfilling duties and responsibilities. Maintains regular correspondence with staff and other society members.

SECRETARY

Ensures all rules and obligations of the CSS Constitution are adhered to. Records/distributes meeting minutes. Assists the President and other society members. Ensures student and staff correspondence is maintained. Maintains a register of members. Assists IT Officer in responding to online queries.

TREASURER

Prepares the society's annual budget and maintains all CSS finances. Records all financial activities. Seeks financial assistance from the Social Science Faculty, Law Faculty, the Student Union, and other relevant organisations associated with La Trobe University.

CAREERS OFFICER

Researches potential opportunities for student career prospects (e.g. job offers, internships, placements, volunteer positions, workshops, or conferences). Organises CSS career-related events by liaising with relevant speakers/organisations and staff/faculty.

YEAR LEVEL STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES

Liaises with and supports their respective year group (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year). Gathers course feedback from their year group. Assists in advertising CSS events and functions to year group. Raises profile of the CSS within year group. Helps to fulfil other duties as directed by the CSS.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Maintains the CSS social media pages and websites. Assists Secretary in responding promptly to emails from students, staff, and organisations. Helps advertise CSS events by posting information online/distributing documents.

GENERAL STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES

Liaises with the general student body. Helps gather course feedback from all year groups. Assists in advertising CSS social events and functions to year groups. Raises profile of the CSS and participates in other duties as directed by the CSS.
